Nob Hill Style September 2022

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”

Theodore Roosevelt

It’s September again and Back-To-School sales are everywhere! Our Nob Hill Style team members have been doing some shopping too and we’re looking forward to sharing our newest inventory with you! Follow our Instagram to check out our latest highlights or contact us for a consultation at Sonia Woolery at (855) 458-2168 or info@nobhillstyle.com, or reserve online at www.nobhillstyle.com/ contact.

Designing for Kids

We love to design creative play spaces for kids and stage children’s bedrooms which allow potential buyers to envision their own family inhabiting a space! We often take inspiration from classic children’s literature like Where the Wild Things Are and Shel Silverstein to create a space that’s whimsical and creative with an elevated vintage touch.

Color Consultations

Ever find yourself flipping through thousands of different paint swatches wondering what to choose? Nob Hill Style offers design consultations as well as staging services! Our team stays updated on market trends through training sessions with color specialists at Benjamin Moore and more!

Neighborhood: Capital Hill

Capital Hill is one of the youngest and hippest neighborhoods of Seattle, popular with young professionals who enjoy the active nightlife, eccentric shops, great food, and live music. The area is also known for its iconic rainbow crosswalks and vibrant queer community! Despite being densely populated, there are several beautiful parks in the area including Cal Anderson, home to the sculpture fountain Waterworks Reflecting Pool, and Volunteer Park which includes a beautiful botanical conservatory that has become a popular wedding venue.

Monthly Spotlight: Georgian Colonial in Cap Hill

Our house spotlight this month is a 6 bed 5 bath 8,200 sq.ft. Georgian Colonial home designed by renowned architect Carl Gould with a sunroom by Paul Thiry, listed by Kristine Losh with Windermere Midtown. Check out the full room-by-room picture tour on our social media!

Nob Hill Style August 2022

“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make us bloom.”
Marcel Proust

The weather is hot and so is the market with real estate sales still favoring sellers. Are there any style or design
trends you are excited about? Now’s your chance to try them out! We are now booking full and partial staging
projects through the upcoming fall so reach out to Sonia Woolery at (855) 458-2168 or
info@nobhillstyle.com, or reserve online at www.nobhillstyle.com/contact.

Design Tips: Original Art
Designer and artist Emily Berkley has contributed some stunning original pieces to the Nob Hill Style
collection. “Creating custom original art for Nob Hill’s staging projects is one of the best parts of my job!”
Emily often works on custom commissions tailored to fit a specific property and she explains that “the art
that gets made at Nob Hill Style is an incredibly special collaboration between all the talented designers
working here. It's a team effort to turn each project into a unique and cohesively designed home and I'm so
proud that my art gets to be a part of it!”

Staging with Personality
The ultimate goal of successful real estate staging is to help the buyer better understand the potential of a
property and envision their own future home. Our mission is always to create a space that inspires the
imagination and creates a compelling design narrative while still inviting viewers to add their own personality
and unique needs to the home! For example, the second bedroom of our recent Madison Valley project was
staged as a creative space for an artistic teen girl, while still being neutral enough to function as a fun guest
bedroom!

Monthly Spotlight: Modern Madison Valley
We worked with Kate Jacobsen and Windermere Midtown to style this 4 bed 3.25 bath 2,987 sq.ft modern
home. Downstairs on the first floor in the open-concept kitchen/dining room, we complemented the
contemporary architecture and appliances with a modern marble dining table, white Sculptura chairs, and
oversized Baushaus prints. Upstairs, on the second and third floors, we staged three district bedrooms with
sophisticated pattern-mixing in the mid-century modern bedding and our original commissioned paintings!

Nob Hill Style July 2022

Summertime is always the best of what might be.”
Charles Bowden

The skies are blue and clear, the days are long and lovely! Many Seattleites can be found enjoying themselves at a local beach or park, and many are perfecting a private oasis in their own backyard. Designing a beautiful patio space is an important part of summer staging and we’ve got you covered! Check our social media for more examples of how we prioritize indoor-outdoor living and our latest patio set-ups.

Design Trends: Organic Shapes & Materials
As there continues to be a push for more eco-friendly and inspired design which invites nature inside, we’re seeing a lot of excitement over designs that incorporate organic shapes in furniture, decor items, and art! One of the most requested decor items at Nob Hill Style is our collection of woven wall art which we often stage in dining rooms and living rooms where they soften the space with their natural colors and textures.

Unique Spaces
We love working with our clients to help them add a creative or personal touch to spaces that otherwise might be overlooked and underutilized! Whether it’s turning attic storage into a “secret” playroom for kids or staging unused hallway space to create a cozy reading nook, our designers are full of ideas for how to elevate your home to its highest and best. Nob Hill Style leaves no stone unturned!

Monthly Spotlight: Warm Welcome at Wedgewood
We were so thrilled with the end result of this 4 bed 3.5 bath 3,214 sq.ft family home listed by Kristin Munger and Windermere. Built in the 1920s with modern updates, the home still retained its charm and unique architectural features such as the arched doors, exposed wooden beams, vaulted ceiling, huge windows & vintage fireplace found in the beautiful living room. We staged the space with neutral colors for the furniture but incorporated the playful orange, greens and blues of the custom tile work in the florals, throw pillows, and smaller decor items.

Nob Hill Style June 2022

"Nothing is impossible. The word itself says 'I'm possible!’"

Audrey Hepburn

Summer is officially here! With gardens in full bloom and beautiful mellow weather, we’re so excited to embrace the tenants of indoor-outdoor design.  Whether through creating private magical outdoor patio set-ups or staging interior rooms with fresh florals and with an eye toward maximizing natural sunlight, Nob Hill Style is inspired by the natural beauty of your property and the surrounding area to create a uniquely designed space with an elevated organic touch.

Flower Power

Working with silk florals and plants, Nob Hill Style thoughtfully selects varieties of flowers and botanicals to reflect what is currently blooming around the city. We are transitioning out the blooming branches of spring for lush florals and plenty of greenery as summer warms up!

Design Tips: Floral Arrangements
Nob Hill Style designer Hannah Larson worked as a professional florist for many years and she has good tips for anyone wondering where to start. “When arranging flowers, whether faux or real, cut your stems at varying heights and arrange them so each bloom has room to breathe. This creates depth and an elevated feeling even with simple blooms! ” Hannah advises. “Right now I'm taking a lot of inspiration from all the yucca in bloom around the city!”

Neighborhood Spotlight: Medina

Nominated as one of the top ten best suburbs to raise a family, in Washington state, this quiet neighborhood has a peaceful rural feel despite the easy access to Bellevue and the amenities of city life.  Less densely populated than other Seattle neighborhoods and with larger-than-average homes and gardens, this area strikes a perfect balance between privacy and community by maintaining several excellent public parks and a reputation for high-quality local amenities.

Monthly Spotlight: Medina Waterfront Property

Listed by Anne Willoughby Nelson, our house spotlight this month is a sprawling 5 bed 7 bath 9,300 sq ft home with an attached mother-in-law unit, separate guest house, pool pavilion, and lush landscaping alongside the beautiful Lake Washington waterfront. We fell in love with the formal dining room—that subtle iridescent wallpaper!—and the living room of the main house. With a stunning west-facing view and floor-to-ceiling glass doors, this space was the epitome of indoor-outdoor luxury! We staged both rooms with a clean, neutral color palette, adding white flowers and fresh greenery to compliment the beautiful view. We were particularly pleased with how the black-and-white Picasso print and striped geometric rug added a modern twist to the classic architecture of the room!

"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does."
William James

We’ve been excited to showcase our newest inventory, incorporating contemporary design trends into our signature Nob Hill Style look of quiet luxury. To check out our custom moodboards and learn more about the designers and brands who inspire us, follow @nobhillstyle on Pinterest!

Decor Trend: Bouclé Chairs

The popularity of Bouclé furniture and decor items has only increased in the last few years as celebrities like Christian Siriano, Miranda Kerr, and Kourtney Kardashian decorate their own homes with these cozy & curvy accent pieces! Our own collection of Bouclé chairs and pillows is always being put to beautiful use in our client’s homes adding our signature touch of texture and luxury.

Designer Spotlight: Gina Johnson

Gina’s favorite room to stage is almost always the kitchen! As a foodie and a frequent traveler, she loves to flip through Nob Hill Style’s collection of gourmet cookbooks from cultures around the world and is herself currently learning how to make homemade Naan bread. It’s important to her to find the perfect recipe to stage the kitchen around and she likes to have a bowl of fruit or a silk herb plant on hand to add depth and an authentic “lived-in” feeling to the home.

Monthly Spotlight: Ravenna Residential

Our house spotlight this month is a 4 bed 3.5 bath 3,130 sq ft home listed by Amanda Wrede and Kristin Munger with Windermere Real Estate. This three-story property had lovely hardwood floors, high ceilings, and large windows and we enhanced the natural warmth and welcome of the open kitchen/living room by staging with neutral colors, warm metallics, and natural textures. One of our favorite pieces is the modern orange waterfall bench which played so beautifully off the red hues of the floor!

Nob Hill Style April 2022

“Nothing ever seems impossible in spring."

L. M. Montgomery

Have you been getting the spring cleaning tingle yet? At Nob Hill Style, we’ve been cleaning, restoring, categorizing, and adding new team members & new unique items to our warehouse stock. We have had to postpone our warehouse sale due to an unprecedented demand for our services—we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you again, we feel humbled by the trust and excitement our partners and clients have shown in working with us!

History Lesson: Slipper Chairs

“Slipper chairs” are armless upholstered chairs with short legs popularized in the 18th century. Their name comes from the fact that they were often used in dressing rooms by upper-class Victorian women as a place to easily slip into their silk slippers! Nob Hill Style is known for our modern vintage styling and we love to stage bedrooms with one of our timeless shearling slipper chairs and a matching pillow or knit throw. Effortlessly romantic!

Meet Our New Warehouse Team

We are happy to announce Josh Jones and Matthew Corey have joined Nob Hill Style as dedicated warehouse personnel and are hard at work behind the scenes to keep our inventory clean, organized, and ready for a quick turnaround! If you want to check out the highlights from our recent warehouse tour, head over to our new YouTube channel or subscribe to our TikTok.

Monthly Spotlight: Cascadia Ave

Our house spotlight this month is a stunning Cascadia Ave 5 bed 4.5 bath 6,120 sq.ft family home listed by Anne Willoughby Nelson with gorgeous mountain and water views of Lake Washington, the Cascades and Mount Baker. Our team worked from top to bottom, re-imaging an attic crawl space as a kid’s secret playroom and setting up a peaceful yoga retreat in the basement! Our team was particularly excited to stage the sun-soaked first-floor living room. We used two velvet Four Hands Furniture chairs and two oversized Audubon crane prints to elevate the natural elegance of the arched windows and French doors and added a dash of playful color with our pink floral arrangement!

March 2022  Spotlight: 199 Tower Place
Our house spotlight this month is a 4 Bd 3.5 Ba 4,130 sq.ft three-story family home listed by Rene Stern that is perched atop the hills of Queen Anne to overlook downtown Seattle and the iconic space needle. The sweeping views, large outdoor patio spaces, and zen garden made styling this property a lovely way to start our spring season! We were inspired by the hand-painted golden mural which greeted us in the entryway of this Queen Anne Home so to complement the mural's Japanese ukiyo-e kacho-ga art style we added a bold flower arrangement with a vase and tulip table in white & gold tones to the foyer. We were also excited to debut a beautiful peacock print by local artist Jennifer Ament in a custom gold frame, which balanced out the size and colors of the mural. We love collaborating with local talent whenever possible and we couldn't be happier with the end result.

Nob Hill Style February 2022

The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
Steve Jobs

For such a short month, February boasts a full agenda—the Chinese New Year, Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day, and the beginning of the busy selling season for our partners and clients! Here are some highlights from the last month:

Photography Workshop with Roger Turk
Nob Hill Style is committed to continual improvement in every aspect of our services, including our in-house media. Roger Turk is an architectural photographer with three decades of experience and national awards shooting residential and commercial properties for architects, builders, designers, and magazines. He generously hosted a comprehensive seminar for our staff which covered his workflow from end to end and provided insider tips on residential photography.

Seattle History: Benjamin McAdoo
Benjamin McAdoo (1920-1981) was the first African American architect to run a practice in Washington state and designed a range of commercial, institutional, religious, and residential buildings. He graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Washington in 1946 and quickly garnered local acclaim through his innovative design style, a mix of modernism and regionalism. His first projects were published in The Seattle Times in 1949. He was also a local civic leader, president of Seattle’s NAACP chapter, and an outspoken advocate for lower-income housing, even pioneering designs for affordable modular housing through the United States Agency for International Development. One of his best-known projects was the University of Washington’s Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center, a legacy of his longstanding collaboration with his alma mater that is still used by students today!

Seattle Home Staging Highlight
Our house spotlight of Feb 2022 is a 3 Bd 3 Ba 3,998 sqft two-story family home in Madrona listed by Heather Dolin and Windermere Real Estate which sold for $250,000 over list price! Tall slanted ceilings, large skylights, a brand new renovated kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and more—staging this property was a real joy and Heather worked with us on every step to bring this project to its highest and best. December Client Highlight
Wrapping up December 2021 is a new construction 4 bedroom 3.5 bathroom 3,720sf house in Ravenna which went pending after just 1 day on market. Kelly Byrne and Judy Delen at Blue Pacific Real Estate chose Nob Hill Style to showcase the sprawling 3 story home to its highest and best potential. With ample wall space, high ceilings, and huge windows to invite in the natural light, it was the perfect house for any art enthusiasts—which we happily took advantage of! Many of our favorite paintings and prints (including a Picasso print in the office, a jumping off point for the home's voice) made it into this design.
